One Day at Cedar Point

Sure, you'd probably like to spend a week at Cedar Point, but it is just not practical for some people. We've developed this strategy guide for those looking to make the most of their time at the world's best amusement park.

Let's start our plan from the main entrance gate. Be sure to get a park map, it will surely be helpful in your planning.

To start the day, we recommend taking a jog to Magnum (be sure to take a look at your park map beforehand). Lines will typically be short this early in the morning. Before riding Magnum, it would probably be to your benefit to get a FreeWay stamp for Top Thrill Dragster, as lines will definitely be long for this attraction all day. After Magnum, you can catch the Gemini right up the trail. Lines will also be very short for this. After Gemini, continue working your way to the back of the park and take a spin on Mean Streak, because lines should still be short on this ride. After Mean Streak, if it is warmer (or if you are just crazy), ride either Snake River Falls or Thunder Canyon. If you didn't get a FreeWay stamp for Top Thrill Dragster, you may want to get stamped for Millennium Force or Wicked Twister, which allows you to come back at a designated time and have an extremely short wait.

It should be about lunch time. You can grab a bite to eat when you are walking back towards Power Tower. Take the time to ride this (The Space Shot line will be faster than the Turbo Drop line). Lines may not be especially short for this, but from 12:00 on, you'll be waiting for most rides anyway. Then, after Power Tower, continue on towards Corkscrew. If it is earlier in the afternoon, go ahead and ride this, but if it is later in the afternoon (2:30-3:00), it won't hurt you to skip it. Go on to Disaster Transport, take a look at the line. If it is a hot day, the lines will probably be long. If the wait is under 30 minutes, go ahead and ride it. If it isn't, it won't hurt you to skip it. Now, go ahead and ride Space Spiral. It will give you a good perspective of Cedar Point. The lines are generally short for this. Now, cross the midway and ride Raptor. The lines will be long, but considerably less now that most people have gone towards the back of the park. After Raptor, be sure to take a ride on the nearby Blue Streak.

If it is around 5:00 PM, and you want to catch a bite to eat at a sit-down eatery, eat at Midway Market or the Silver Dollar Cafe. The Midway Market is all you can eat for $10, so it is a pretty good deal for Cedar Point, and the Silver Dollar Cafe is pretty good, as well. If it is earlier than 5:00, you may have time to squeeze in a ride on WildCat or Iron Dragon. We recommend eating at 5:00 PM because it will bring a lesser wait than eating later in the day.  Anyway, it is now time for Mantis. The lines may be long, but they will be worth it. After Mantis, you should be ready for a night ride on Millennium Force. Check out the lines, and if you've got a few minutes till it would definitely be dark when you ride Millennium Force, you could go back to Iron Dragon and Wildcat. After Millennium Force, depending on the time, you may be able to get a reride on Magnum or Power Tower. These rides are very fun at night.

You might want to ride Chaos, Giant Wheel, Demon Drop, Midway Carousel, or White Water Landing. Be sure to check out the Live Entertainment schedule as well. You may find something in there that would be of interest to you.

You may modify this plan however you want. Just remember that it is important to hit the back of the park before the front, and the front of the park will be less crowded in the afternoon. You may be able to get more rides in than we said here, you may get less. We tried to look at an average summer day at Cedar Point and went from there.
