Version 4 Launches

Wow, what an experience the past few month's have been. First I become Executive Editor of The Point Online, then now we launch Version 4 on February 21, 2005 at 12:00am. And yes, I did say we. It is not just me who created this site, but a whole slew of staff members.

There are two other Staff Members who helped me out a great deal, Jason and Bryan. Bryan does all of our coding for the forums, so every change in the forums he made. Also, it is Bryan's birthday later this week, so Happy Birthday. Jason, is what I call our GIF Guy. He makes all of our graphics and animated icons (which have the extension .gif), so all of the animations you see are his work. And don't spend all day refreshing the homepage trying to look at all of the Welcome Images, as there are 50 of them (all of which Jason made). So a big thank you to Bryan and Jason!

The newest Staff Member, and probably the least well known, is our Editorial Editor, James. He writes the brand new column From the Editors Desk, which I know will become a favorite among readers. Along with James, Jon and Danielle both have new columns, both of which can be read by click on Editorials on the left. I myself most likely will have a column, but I do not know what the subject matter will be.

But isn't the only thing new. We also added Event information, so you know when all of our members are going to meet up next along with more photos. Most of our photo galleries have been expanded, and if they haven't yet, they soon will be.

The Midway Section also is new. The concept was thrown around in Version 3, and now we have blown it away. We now have information on every shop, food stand, and game in the park, including photos. This is bigger than anything we have ever done before.

For all of those who frequent the site, they will have noticed a new logo on our forums. It is apart of a new portion of The Point Online, www.cpforums.com. By visiting directly to cpforums.com, you bypass the rest of The Point Online.

And the last major change, and I believe the best, is that we got rid of all advertisements on the site. We are not running this site to make a profit, or to make money at all. If I was in it to make money I wouldn't be in the web business. Plus, we all hate those annoying banner ads that say, "Shoot the Paparazzi" or some other weird noise.
