Dear Visitors, First off, We would like to welcome you to Cedar Point-on-Lake Erie, the webs best known Cedar Point historical web site. We at The Point Online pride ourselves on being the Internet's leading unofficial Cedar Point Source since 2001. The Point Online has all the Cedar Point information you need including photos, a blog, a forum, and much more. This web site got its start in late 1995 as a small part of a web site called "Coaster Planet." From there, the idea evolved and the web site was created in late 1999 to inform the public of the colorful history of Cedar Point from it's humble beginning to present day. From a small collection of post cards and information, the immense web site you see today arose. Nearly everything you see on this web site is part of the Cedar Point-on-Lake Erie Archives, and publicly displayed so the world can access this unique collection. If you are ever in the area of Roseville, Michigan, visit Charley's Steakery in Macomb Mall and you can witness part of the collection handsomely displayed on a wall. Where does the information come from? The information contained in Cedar Point-on-Lake Erie comes from several sources. The original influence was the book CEDAR POINT: The Queen of American Watering Places, written by David and Diane Francis. The book Fun at the old Cedar Point by Glenn D. Everett helped with some of the information regarding old rides and attractions during the 1930s. The VHS video A Summertime Tradition on Lake Erie also helped in filling in some of the missing information in the parks early seasons. Besides published resources, Cedar Point-on-Lake Erie gets much of its information from other resouces as well. Even though postcards usually don't have much writing on them, they still aided in telling the story of a bygone era. The over one hundred shown in this web site tell a story in their own. The brochures in the archives also gave placement of new rides and told about the park during each season. The Town Hall Museum, located in Cedar Point, helped visually with the many artifacts it contains from the park and histroical articles. Disclaimer & Copyright notice.
