The fair has finally come to town for 2005! New
additions and
improvements are all over the Cedar Fair chain, with many major new
rides now open as well as drastic changes to a few of the parks.
Here's what you can expect to see new at the Cedar Fair parks in 2005.
Dorney Park : Hercules, the mammoth wooden roller coaster sprawled
over the back of Dorney Park, was removed a few years ago. As legend
has it, Hercules attacked a nine-headed beast by the name of Hydra
while it was sleeping and buried one of its heads under a rock near
the lake. Hydra has come to seek its revenge in Hercules' place at
Dorney Park in the form of the newest Bolliger & Mabillard floorless
coaster. The ride features many outrageous elements including the
first-of-its-kind "Jojo Roll", an inversion taken seconds after
leaving the station!
Geauga Lake : Last year was the beginning of something new at the old
picnic grounds in Aurora. Theme park giant Six Flags was gone, family
friendly Cedar Fair had just run in the door, not to mention the
sighting of an enormous arc of animals headed for California while
leaving their home barren and empty. For 2005, Cedar Fair is pulling
out all of the tricks with the introduction of Wildwater Kingdom on
the former site of Sea World Ohio. The new water park is welcomed
along with several other additions such as ride retracking on Raging
Wolf Bobs, new picnic pavilions, and new shows in the park's many
theatres.
Knott's Berry Farm : While it is the only year-round park in the Cedar
Fair chain, Knott's has gotten us excited in 2005 as well. In December
last year Knott's opened Silver Bullet, another Bolliger & Mabillard
coaster that is full of thrills for the whole family. The ride takes
place over an amazing lagoon and features one of the first over banked
turns on a Bolliger & Mabillard coaster. Knott's is also preparing to
open a TGI Fridays in time for the big crowds of summer 2005.
Michigan's Adventure : Our favorite little family park in Muskegon,
Michigan has finally gotten a new ride in the form of Funnel of Fear,
a ProSlide "tornado". The ride is located in WildWater Adventure along
the park's boardwalk and has a yellow and pink color scheme.
Michigan's Adventure is also opening a new ice cream stand, Sundae at
the Races, which will be located near Corkscrew.
Valleyfair! : Water is once again the key to another addition in the
Cedar Fair chain, and at Valleyfair! this comes in the form of RipTide
- 720* of Attitude. RipTide is the same as the ride of the same name
installed at Knott's Berry Farm in 2004, and is welcomed along with
the relocated Skyscraper up-charge attraction from Dorney Park. The
midway games area of Valleyfair! has also been remodeled for 2005.
Worlds of Fun : Keeping with Cedar Fair's tradition of being a family
park, Worlds of Fun has introduced the PEANUTS Playhouse for 2005.
PEANUTS Playhouse is a multi-level interactive attraction for kids in
the Camp Snoopy area. Worlds of Fun is also opening the Worlds of Fun
Village, a campground and cottage rental area for overnight
accommodations. Worlds of Fun Village is the park's first on-site
lodging.
