The FreeWay Pass System has been
removed from Cedar Point for the 2006 Season. FreeWay will no
longer be available. For more information, please read
The Point Online Blog.

One of the many new additions for the 2002 Cedar Point season
is FreeWay. FreeWay, quite simply, is a program that allows you to get
a hand stamp from a booth in front of Wicked Twister, Millennium
Force, Raptor, Magnum XL-200, Mantis, or Top Thrill Dragster and come
back during the one hour block of time stamped on your hand. 100
stamps for each ride are given out for each one-hour block of time,
and you cannot get another hand stamp for a different ride until you
have used your first hand stamp. There is a separate line for all
coasters that "FreeWay-ers" enter. There is a ride attendant located
at the place where you will join the main line to prevent problems,
and to cancel out your hand stamp, so you cannot ride multiple times
in an hour on one stamp. From the place where "FreeWay-ers" enter the
main line, riders have approximately a 15-20 minute wait to ride. Hand
stamps are usually given out around 11am, and are continued to be
given out until the quota of stamps has been met for the day.
Remember: you can still wait to ride, and do not have to get a stamp.
Why did Cedar Point
add this?
It spreads guests throughout the park--so that they spend more time
riding other rides, and less time waiting in line. It also is a nice
program to offer the guests, providing them an "extra" service for
free. The program has been a success, and will most likely be
available at the park for years.
In 2000, Cedar Point
implemented their "Ticket to Ride" program, which, all in all, was a
failure. The Ticket to Ride program was used only for Millennium
Force, and did not allow park guests to wait in the main line, rather
than get a ticket. Cedar Point did not have a system for the 2001
season.
