The
first set of plans for 2006 is the expansion of the Cedar Point
Marina. The marina will be adding one pier in the south harbor, which
will be around the area of the Battery Park Marina. Another project
in the marina that may occur is the picnic and storage areas (where
the fireworks for the laser show are stored) by Millennium Force will
be greatly reduced and transformed into a parking lot.
The Blog
We all know OnPoint
was created for a reason, and that reason just may have been to give
hints to us about what the new ride will be. Right now all it pretty
much has told us that a new ride is coming in Frontier Town. Some
believe the stats mentioned in the Brat entry could be for the new
ride, especially figuring that 2,500 riders an hour on a ride would be
nice, however, the stats are not made up. After doing some research,
those stats are actually from
Johnsonville.com and are indeed real.
White Water Landing
Will it stay or
will it go? Consider it gone. But White Water Landing is not the
only thing is jeopardy. Town Hall Museum and the bathrooms next door
also may not be returning. The land they sit on is a key point, it
offers access to Millennium Island. White Water Landing may be moving
to another Cedar Fair park.
That is what we
know is going to happen. There is a TON of speculation on the new
ride of next year and there are tons of different scenarios. I am
going to be going through the ones I believe could actually happen.
Scenario A – S&S
Package
The name says it
all, the new rides will be apart of a S&S Power package ride deal.
Cedar Point would see the addition of new rides, one roller coaster
and one thrill ride. The coaster obviously would be a Screaming
Squirrel, while the thrill ride would be most likely a Sky Swatter,
but a Screaming Swing could also be possible. Both of these rides are
cheap, have small footprints, and are exciting.
Scenario B – Water
Coaster
If they remove
White Water Landing, you need another water ride. An Indoor/Outdoor
themed water coaster would do the trick (or a just a regular one too,
but this is more fun). The theme, obviously, would have to do with
traveling in the old west. This would be a great addition, especially
if it would incorporate different levels of how wet you get. So during
HalloWeekends, you won’t get soaked.
Scenario C – 2007
Construction
Another possibility
is that this construction could be for a major ride in 2007. I
personally highly doubt that I am certain a new attraction will be
present next year. However, we must still be aware that plans are set
for 2007 and construction (just like Dragster) probably will start
early in the 2006 season.
A fairly new
feature we have here at The Point Online is our online blogs. We
figure if millions of others can do it, then so can we. So if you
