One of the
most recent OnPoint entries was about a ‘big blue thing
that is not Lake Erie”. First off, ever since when was Lake Erie
blue? All jokes aside, the big blue thing is just a tarp covering
something very large. For photos, please visit our
2006
Construction Gallery. So, what exactly is under that blue
tarp? Let’s analyze the situation.
Here is what we
know:
-
Construction Markings
have appeared around Mine Ride, Town Hall, Snake River Falls, and
White Water Landing.
-
It has been
rumored for several years that White Water Landing would be removed.
-
The Swan Boats
were supposedly removed to make room for a B&M Coaster, which never
was built.
-
Screamscape
has had wild rumors of a B&M Flying Coaster.
-
Screamscape
believes Cedar Point will receive a S&S Screaming Swing.
-
OnPoint,
Cedar Point’s web log, was created to ‘hype’ the new ride for next
year. (But they think Lake Erie is blue…)
-
Today,
ValleyFair announced it will be adding Xtreme Swing for the
2006 season.
-
Six Flags
Magic Mountain will be building a B&M Flying roller coaster, which
will give the park the title of “most coasters in the world”.
-
All Cedar Fair
parks have been affected by budget cuts.
-
Richard
Kinzel’s last year as CEO of Cedar Fair will be in 2007, he has said
he would like to outdo Top Thrill Dragster under his command.
Analysis of the
Blue Tarp:
So, what exactly
is under that blue tarp? Well, if I had an X-Ray Camera, I would
know, but I don’t have one of those. However, I do have some
knowledge of what S&S Screaming Swings look like. This is
indeed the top of a S&S Screaming Swing.
Cedar Point is getting a S&S Screaming
Swing for 2006.
However, it is looking like this may be
built in Challenge Park as an up-charge attraction. The top of
the Swing is white, as you can clearly see in some holes in the tarp.
Or, it may replace Demon Drop, which also is a huge possibility.
The Point Online is still investigating
the construction markings in Frontier Town and we are still looking at
the possibilities of a new coaster.
