Cedar Point kicked off the 137th season with a bang on
Saturday, May 6, 2006. The park debuted Skyhawk and had a
massive fireworks display that night to celebrate the beginning of
the season. Along with the new ride Skyhawk, tons of major
updates occurred during the off-season. Some familiar with the
park claim it was one of the busiest off-season's in recent years as
the park did many updates.
The
major new ride obviously is
Skyhawk.
Built right next to
Snake River
Falls in Frontier Town, Skyhawk features two swinging arms
that travel up to 60mph. Skyhawk has a 125 foot swing and is
built by S&S. For more articles about Skyhawk, along with
video of the ride in operation, please visit our
blog.
Another
huge change this year is the lower admission to the park. Now
adults can get into the park for only $39.95 and kids for $9.95.
The food prices inside the park have also been lowered by as much as
20%. Cotton Candy is being sold for only $0.25 on the midway.
That's right, one quarter will buy you a nice stick of cotton candy.
If you're a fan of Castaway Bay, then
you are going to love Hurricane Hannah's, the new food stand at the
front of the park. Hurricane Hannah's replaced Hofbrau and now
offers tropical food at the front of the park. For more
information on the lowered prices of food, please visit our
blog.
Several
changes have been made to shops this year. A wooden sleuth has
been added on the Frontier Trail to search for gems in sand.
Snoopy Boutique received a pretty paint job on the outside, along
with giant paw prints on the outside. A new store this year is
Attitudes, which replaced Hattitudes. Attitudes features dark
and more controversial clothing. Returning also this year is
LotsAPalooza.
I
f
you missed out on Opening Day this year or have never seen Cedar
Point put on a fireworks display, then you need to make your plans
to attend Cedar Point on July 4. To celebrate Opening Day the
park put on an amazing fireworks display, which could be considered
a preview for the July 4 show. The 2006 season is going to be
amazing and if you have not made plans to go to Cedar Point this
summer, you should make them now.
