 Point Press - maXair Construction

February 19, 2005

Welcome to the first edition of "Point Press!" For those of you who are curious, this column was an idea thrown around between etniesboy66 and I after MrMike became Executive Editor of The Point Online. However, it now looks as though I will be taking on the job by myself. There are no problems though; I am really excited to put together a column that you will hopefully look forward to reading.

Before I get started, it would be a good idea to explain what I am going to cover in each issue of "Point Press". It will basically be an overview of what is going on at Cedar Point, including upcoming events and general park news. Rumors may also be mentioned, but Sgt.Roadkill will have most details on those. New issues will be published frequently, or after I make to Cedar Point. So with that, let's move on!

We are halfway through the off season right now and I bet you are wondering what could possibly be going on in the Cedar Point world. The answer is a lot of things. Obviously, there is maXair construction, which I am sure many of you have been following very close. However, for those of you who are not quite into checking Cedar Point's maXair page on a daily basis, I shall explain, as there really is not much to the construction process.

The most obvious signs of site preparation came in January. Land clearing, digging, and all that other good stuff can all be seen. Parts for this new ride are now being stored in the snow-covered parking lot until vertical construction begins, which I know we are all looking forward to. Looking at those parts, this is going to be one colorful ride. maXair will look great soaring over Kiddy Kingdom and hopefully generate some positive energy in an otherwise dull area of the park. So, there you have it. That's the just of what is going on as far as maXair construction goes. Maybe it is not as fun as monitoring construction on a massive coaster, such as Top Thrill Dragster, but it is something to keep us from going crazy during this off season.

In conclusion of the very first publishing of "Point Press", I would like to remind everyone that I am open to suggestions. If there is something you would like me to cover in the next issue that I may have skipped over, please feel free to contact me at xhellocity@gmail.com. With 97 days remaining in the off season, be sure to keep yourself updated on maXair activity, and keep in mind that it won't be long before this cold weather blows over and we can be on the midways once again!
