The
Staff Members at The Point Online
have put together a unique thrill rating for each ride. Below is our
"definition" of each particular rating. Thrill ratings are measured in
screams. Though we cannot give a definite age for each scream level,
you can compare the scream levels of rides that your child has ridden
to those that your child has not ridden, and go from there. Note: Just
because a ride has a low scream rating does not mean that it is not
enjoyable. We recommend trying many of the rides in different
categories and making favorites. Also, we do not recommend starting a
child on a ride above 3 screams.. This may cause a fear of roller
coasters for the child, and it is sometimes hard to lose this fear.
.5 scream: No
fear at all should come from these rides. These rides do not have any
tall heights or fast speeds to them.
1 scream: These
rides should also have no fear factor, unless the rider is afraid of
heights. These rides may have tall heights, but no fast speeds to
them.
1.5 screams:
These rides may have some aspect of fear to them, but only because of
a moderately fast pace.
2 screams: These
rides may provoke fear because of increased intensity.
2.5 screams:
These rides may provoke fear because the rider may go fast in a
circular motion.
3 screams: Once
you reach 3 screams, you are into the intense thrill rides/roller
coasters. The thrill rides at this level may be intense for some
people, because of going fast and upside down in a circular motion.
The roller coasters at this level will not be very intense, and should
provoke minimal fear in most people.
3.5 screams: The
roller coasters at this level may provoke fear in some people because
of increased intensity and speed. Roller coasters are allowed to have
inversions at this level and up.
4 screams:
Roller coasters at this level will be intense. Roller coasters may
also reach large heights at this level.
4.5 screams:
Thrill rides will be very intense at this level. There will be extreme
heights and speeds of the thrill rides. Roller coasters will be very
intense, and may reach extreme heights and/or have many inversions.
5 screams: Our
highest level. Roller coasters at this level will be extreme, reach
extreme heights and speeds. It is not recommended to ride 5 scream
rides unless you have conquered all of the lesser scream rides.
