Raptor
Raptor is a unique
coaster. Built by B&M of Switzerland, Raptor constantly ranks in the
top ten among steel coasters worldwide. This ride is not for the
easily shaken. Unlike Iron Dragon, Raptor has two major differences
that shape the ride. Take out the floor and add 6 inversions, and
you've got Raptor. That is correct, on Raptor, your feet dangle to the
earth. This interesting train style led to the advertising campaign,
"Kick the Sky". Raptor starts up by ascending a 137 foot hill. The
ride has an abrupt turn to the left, and, before riders have a chance
to catch their breath, they are catapulted through an one hundred foot
vertical loop. The ride sure doesn't stop there. Raptor has an
additional five inversions, ranging from barrel rolls to flips. This
ride is not for the faint of heart. You'll wait awhile in the middle
of the summer for this one, but it is worth it. In fact, it is
particularly exciting to ride in the front seat. Raptor sits four
across, so don't be intimidated by the long line to wait for the
front. It might be an additional 30 minutes, but for many, it is the
best usage of 30 minutes in their day.
