The Things You Probably Missed
There are many things to do at Cedar
Point that you probably might miss in a normal day of coaster riding
at The Point. Let's look at a few of them.
Cedar Point was founded in 1870 because of its beach, not its
multimillion dollar roller coasters you see today. The Cedar Point
beach, which is one mile long, is a great place to relax for a few
minutes during the busy day. The life-guarded beach has volleyball
courts and lounge chairs, as well as conveniently placed showers for
getting the sand off of your feet. :)
Another thing you may miss is the great scenery at Cedar Point.
There is an abundance of great flowers and bushes all over the park.
On the main midway, the flowers are especially enjoyable. You can get
a great view of all of the flowers from the Sky Ride.
A trip to Cedar Point is not complete without a trip to the Town
Hall Museum. The museum, located in Frontiertown, takes a look at the
rich history of The Point. You can view a movie about Cedar Point's
history here, view models of some of the rides, view Cedar Point's
many awards, play antique nickel and dime games, and much more.
Paddlewheel Excursions, located right off Camp Snoopy, provides a
relaxing paddlewheel boat ride through the Cedar Point lagoon. The
ride gives a nice view of many of the coasters, as well as a lot of
corny humor from the boat's captain and the animatronics along the
banks of the lagoon.
Cedar Point is most known for its rides, but did you know it has
great award-winning live entertainment, as well? Be sure to get a live
entertainment schedule as you come into the park to plan your day
accordingly.
There are dozens of small and large shops at Cedar Point where you
can find that perfect souvenir, as well as many other great items. Be
sure to also check out some of the Frontier Trail shops where you can
watch craftsmen such as the blacksmith and the wood carver. Also,
there is a candle store where you can dip your own candles for a very
reasonable price.
Finally, the Pet Farm on the Frontier Trail has a small museum, and
many farm animals that you can pet all that you want. There are many
great photo opportunities here. If you'd like to buy some food and
feed the animals, be sure to get there early, because there is a
limited amount of food the farm can sell each day.
